REACH

The REACH statement is an European regulation for the production and trade of chemical fabrics. It describes the rules that companies and governments have to follow. The following 3 groups deal with REACH: manufacturers/importers; distributors; users



AZO FREE

This means that there were no dyes used with azo in it. Azo dyes are organic compounds, which contain the coloring azo function. The majority of azo dyes are water-soluble and are therefore easy for the body to absorb, and this takes place through inhalation and swallowing of dust as well as through skin contact. Azo dyes may also be toxic to aquatic organisms and cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.The wool blend is also referred to as Ceramica. It is reputed for being a premium and highly functional fabric that has been developed to meet the demands of modern life.

SUPPLIER

Our wool supplier is based in Portugal and follow strict REACH regulations and use Azo free dyes. They promote full traceability, from the selection of the raw material to the finishing of the fabric, as well as with regard to the use of chemicals that respect human health and the environment:

Rhumaa is een op Zuid-Afrikaanse culturen geïnspireerd merk. Het concept van Rhumaa draait om het vertellen van persoonlijke culturele verhalen door mode. Elke collectie vertelt een prachtig verhaal met natuurlijke stoffen en is ontworpen met Afrika als inspiratiebron.
Rhumaa vindt het belangrijk om ‘gezond’ met mode om te gaan. Hiermee bedoelen ze sociaal verantwoord en goed voor het milieu. De kleding wordt deels in Portugal geproduceerd en deels in Turkije. Daar wordt geproduceerd onder eerlijke werkomstandigheden en de fabrieken hebben de volgende certificeringen: GOTS, OCS en Oeko-Tex Standard 100. Wat garandeerd dat er eerlijk en milieuvriendelijk wordt geproduceerd. De fabriek in Turkije hergebruikt 70% van hun water en is de eerste vegan gecertificeerde fabriek.

Rhumaa maakt alleen gebruik van natuurlijke materialen, zoals GOTS gecertificeerd organisch katoen, cupro, lyocell, katoen, viscose,  alpaca,  cashmere en merino. De materialen zijn op milieuvriendelijke manier verkregen en de dierlijke producten komen van dieren die goed zijn behandeld. Alle producten van Cupro zijn gecertificeerd veganistisch. Ze houden ook rekening met duurzame oplossingen voor hun uitstoot en papierverspilling en proberen ook op die manier een zo duurzaam mogelijk bedrijf te zijn. Daarnaast geeft Rhumaa bij elke verkoop een deel aan het ontwikkelen van vaardigheden in Zuid-Afrika via Learn to Earn om hun inspiratiebron te ondersteunen.
